Growing world of crowd-funding still a Wild West

Every single day, $4 million is pumped into GoFundMe — which claims to be the world’s largest fundraising site. But is that money going into the right hands? With a Burlington woman now facing fraud charges for allegedly crowd-funding more than $100,000 on allegations of made-up treatment for a disease there’s no evidence she ever had, the answer is clearly (at least in some cases) no.
